Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a great week.  It is nice to end the week with sunshine and warm weather after having rain and cold weather at the beginning of the week.

Can you believe April is over already?  I certainly can’t.  Especially since I am thinking about all of the things we still need to do.  The students officially finished their rocks and minerals unit today, with the culminating activity being the breaking of geodes and putting together a class book that they all took part in making about rocks and minerals.  On Monday we start back with social studies-learning about local government.  In math the students are learning different types of algorithms to do larger multiplication problems.

Our morning work this week has been focusing on math for the NJ ASK.  We will continue into next week.  We will start spelling back up next week as well.

Mr. Mason and I are hoping that we can do some fun activities with the students this last quarter in between all the end of the year assessments that we have to do as well as the NJ ASK.  The students will be picking a play that they would like to be in and will be practicing their parts to the point of memorizing them for the final production in June that everyone will be invited to.  Mr. Mason has also started a blog with the class that you can check out.  The newsletters will be on it as well as other information.  It is just in the beginning stages, but we are hoping to add a lot to it.

Let us know what you think.

Have a wonderful weekend.  Enjoy the beautiful weather we are suppose to get.

Dear Parents,

Happy Friday! What a crazy week we had- a field trip, Earth Day ,Take Your Child to Work Day, extra recess and an assembly as well as ALM and ALR testing. The kids loved every bit of it!

Now that the weather is getting nicer and the school year is winding down, I am trying to instill in the students that school is not over yet. They still need to stay focused because we still have a lot of ground to cover before the end of the year. We have finished our fractions unit and will start back up with multiplication and division. We are finished with our rocks and minerals unit and will start Hopewell government. We will finish the story Sarah Plain and Tall next week in reading as well.

I want to remind everyone that the students will be taking the WrAP test Monday and Tuesday mornings, so please make sure that your child  gets a good night sleep and a healthy breakfast on those 2 days. This test is a writing assessment to see how their writing has improved since the beginning of the year. They will be writing to a prompt n those 2 days.

Have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the sunshine and warm weather.

Reminders

*Picture money is due for class pictures by Thursday

* Good night sleep and healthy breakfast for Monday and Tuesday.
